Return Of The Thugs

Donald Trump dances around the subject of taking away or possibly reducing Social Security and Medicare benefits. Millions of Americans rely on these programs for their financial security and healthcare needs.
Never mind the fact that those millions of Americans have contributed to these programs throughout their working lives. The implications of such a move would be far-reaching, affecting not only the individuals who depend on these benefits but also the broader social safety net that supports the nation's most vulnerable population.
Trump knows this and is once again using the tactic he has been using his entire life. Threaten, threaten and threaten more until he gets his way. It is thuggish behavior. And he is teaching it to his entire cadre of thugs.
To draw a parallel, this is like the notorious environment of Chicago in the 1920s, a time characterized by organized crime and the infamous practice of paid protection. During that era, businesses were often coerced into paying for protection services from gangsters, who would threaten violence or disruption if their demands were not met.
In a similar way, the potential dismantling of Social Security and Medicare can be viewed as a threat, where the government might be seen as reneging on its commitments to its citizens, thereby leaving them vulnerable and exposed to financial hardships and healthcare crises if they don't accede to the demands made by Trump and his thugs.
Just as businesses in 1920s Chicago had to navigate a dangerous landscape where their livelihoods were at risk, American citizens today face an uncertain future regarding their retirement and health care security. It is being seen ever day with masked raids in the name of law enforcement for our protection and safety!
It is no different from the 1920's when store windows were smashed out and fire bombs were tossed in businesses by thugs and gangsters who then blamed it on neighborhood gangs.
But the gansters offered protection! For a price!
The fear of losing these programs can create a sense of instability and fear among the population, particularly among those who have planned their lives around the assumption that these benefits would be available to them in their later years.
The discussion surrounding Social Security and Medicare is not just a financial issue; it's deeply intertwined with the values of a society that professes to care for its aging population.
Potential cuts to these programs would signify a shift away from the principles of support and solidarity that have characterized American social policy.
Trump is testing the waters to see who will panic and succumb to these crumbs of ridiculous rhetoric. And his posse of thugs are watching closely to see what he will get away with, so they can imbed his stupid fucked up policies into the Republican agenda for the future.
These are old plays from the political playbooks of the 1920' and 1930's circa Europe.
Think about it and be sure to VOTE!
