A very cool place to go if you want to get away from the LA traffic and still do some partying. Hermosa Beach has its own pier and is between Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. Pier Avenue has some fun places to eat and bars that are always busy making a fun atmosphere.
If you feel like spending some energy, the strand runs for miles along the coast and you can bike or skate to your hearts content. Don't worry about bringing your own equipment, there are many rentals. Feeling lazy? That's what the beach is for. Cleaned every morning and ready for you.

Volleyball is hugely popular and they host world tournaments at Hermosa Beach every year. Restaurants are everywhere in the area. Take your pick. One of our favorites is Martha's at Hermosa Beach. It's easy to find. Just walk north on the strand to 22nd. street and turn right. It's right in front of you. Another favorite is Palmilla Cocina y Tequila. It is on Pier Avenue, around the corner from The Beach House. See what I mean? Everything is almost within an arm reach.

Need a place to sleep? The Beach House Hotel at Hermosa is on the beach and on the strand. You won't miss anything going on and the rooms are nice, modern and comfortable. Pricey? Yes, a little, but actually kind of moderate compared to other hotels on the beach with the same proximity and amenities. Be aware you are right on the beach, so the weather and the crowds can affect the surroundings.
They have private valet parking available and remember almost all hotels in California now charge for parking. Hey. Who goes to southern California on a budget. It's worth it to protect your car. Right? Right. If you did bring a car, good for you. Now you can really explore the coast and the beaches. Next stop Venice Beach. It's not far north, but too far to walk, unless you have 4 hours to kill.
Hermosa Beach is a great example of southern California living in the summer. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax, you can find that here, and the next minute be partying with the rest of them. The best part? It's only 6 miles from LAX. That would be the airport.
Have fun.
